Working with partners?

Postby Shekeira » Sat Jun 21, 2008 6:03 pm

I'm considering choosing a partner to help/work with/have event. For those of you who've had these partner searches, what do you have them for? What do you look for? What do you have them do? Do you prefer novices over sponsors?

I usually start off by making them event my horses, or breed them to see if they can stay on task, then i look for whether or not they want to keep working with the partner ship, but making them to do really stupid stuff, normally the whole novice vs. sponser thing isn't a big deal if you provide the sponser account.

I just found a very fine partner in Lilabelle. :) I looked for people who could actually benefit from the partnership. People who could use some knowledge, skills, reputation, good horses, good bloodlines, etc. I definitely ruled out anyone who had a lot of money and big winning horses. They can obviously do just fine on their own.

I would definitely like to take the "take someone under my wing" approach. A smart, active novice, I think, right in line with what you said, Missing.

When I was a novice, Draggy sent me a Drum to event . . . she helped me with a lot of things actually  Now we're partners cause she's too lazy to event her own Drums, and for me it means one less discipline to train in

I 'lease' some of my spare sponsers out . . . I offered to let Loveh use my stud sponser cause I knew her reputation and was friends with her. I recently did a search for a new leasee . . . what I looked for then was references. Those who I had at least seen around the Forums a fair bit, and had reliable people as references. What they also wanted to do with my account also put in as to if they were considered :D

Well, considering I have only one sponsor account, with no plans to buy another, leasing one cannot be done. *scratches her head* I guess if I pick a novice, it would be to event my horses, to search for possible bloodlines. A sponsor would be easier to help with training, but novices can do rolling, too ... Hrm.
