Question about Dyes

Postby BindiCo » Mon Jan 28, 2008 2:04 am

Hi...

I am hoping that someone out there might have an answer to my question.

OK...., if I use a dye that is 100%, I understand that it not only dyes my horse that colour permenately (let's say a Bay), by it's offspring could also be that colour (Bay.

Now....if I use a dye that is say only 86%. How does that work?

Is the parent only a Bay 86% of the time, and then passes it's previous colour on 14% of the time? Kinda like real horses? Sometimes you get a colour you don't expect?

Or is there something else I don't unerstand/know about??

ANY and ALL info on how the dyes work would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks! Bindi

I don't know how well a 86% dye would work. . . the 86% is the quality of the dye. If its like shoes, it won't last permanently on the horse =)

But the bolded bit doesn't happen at all. There is always going to be 49% chance of the foal being the mothers colour, the fathers colour, and only 2% chance of the foal being Albino. Nothing complicated =)

I believe that the dye will stay permanently on the horse, no matter what quality it is. Or at least, I've never heard of a dye wearing off. o.O

I dont thing the dye will go poof later on, but lower quality might mean that you use the dye but nothing happens and the horse doesnt change color at all

I've never seen a dye not work or poof. And I rarely use 100% dyes...people charge too much for them when a 75% one works just as well. And it's impossible to get a different color than one of the parents unless it's Albino.

The quality of the dye is the same as the item crafting "level" or percentage, of the person making the dye. That's all. :D

ok...so it doesn't really matter whether the dye is 100%, or say 27%...they should all work the same, with the same results. Correct?
