how do you get trophys to award the winers of your events?

The people who run the events give them out if they want to. They have the option to give the horse that comes first a trophy.

You can make them with crafting skill or buy them on the market

I'm not sure, when you have enough, there will be an option to craft a trophy, but I believe it's at or near 100

your skill has to be 100 to create trophies and they are very hard to craft!
